The Book of Us

by Angie Pedersen

reviewed by Tracey Eller

Angie has topped herself with The Book of Us, the follow up to her popular Book of Me and Growing Up Me. As in her other books, Angie has a talent for effortlessly pushing us think about the things that bring meaning to our lives. She guides us through thought-provoking questions which will trigger our memory for better journaling, and she helps us organize our thoughts to make a more meaningful book.

Let's start by clearing up a common misconception. This book is not simply about romantic relationships! The book contains examples of all of the relationships in our lives- husband/wife as well as family, parent/child, best friends, siblings, teammates, online groups, pets and more.

One of the most refreshing aspects of this book is the approach to the layouts. The book is not only chock full of the terrific full color layouts you'd expect, but it features full albums. One layouts isn't always enough to give us the feel for a what the author was trying to create, so Angie shares the full project with us. And it's not just about scrapbooks!! Designs include scrapbooks as well as tag books, accordians, handmade books, altered books, calendars, circle journals and even a tabletop keepsake box.

Ok, I'll confess. It's the little things that grab me, in this case the quotes on the borders of nearly every page. She's included everything from the Bible and Socrates to Willy Wonka and Mae West. What more could you want?!
